Job description

Position Summary

Reporting to the Patient Services Manager, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) will support and enhance an interprofessional team within the Maternal Child Program, practicing within the NP scope. The primary roles include acting as the Medical Record Provider (MRP) for well-newborns without a primary care practitioner or those whose primary care provider lacks hospital privileges, as well as outpatient newborn follow-up in the hyperbilirubinemia clinic. The NP will demonstrate clinical competency in practice leadership, education, and research, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other team members in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario standards. The NP will also lead professional development, educate patients and families, and provide comprehensive direct care. Working in partnership with the team, the NP will implement a collaborative model in the acute care setting to improve patient experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Nursing (MSN) Nurse Practitioner
  • Current registration in the Extended Class (RN-EC) with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Minimum five years recent experience in an acute care setting with demonstrated clinical expertise
  • Current BCLS certification or proof of enrollment in recertification; valid certificate required at hire

  • Ability to work autonomously and effectively in an interdisciplinary team

Duties
