Position Summary

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a registered nurse in the extended class (EC) with the College of Nurses of Ontario, holding a Master’s degree. NPs have a legislated scope of practice beyond that of a Registered Nurse, authorized to perform controlled acts within the limits set by law and standards. The NP provides advanced nursing care, collaborates with interprofessional teams, and performs comprehensive assessments, especially in geriatrics. The role involves leadership, developing best practices, and participating in organizational activities to improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide care across inpatient, outpatient, and outreach settings, with rotational coverage as needed.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop care plans for patients within the Medical Program.
  • Offer specialized care and consultations, especially for complex cases.
  • Collaborate on goals of care and end-of-life planning with the team and families.
  • Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical program development.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures authorized through directives.
  • Engage in research, scholarly activities, and the development of best practices.
Qualifications
  • Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in the RN (Extended Class) and in good standing.
  • Master’s degree in Nursing or equivalent.
  • CNA certification in Medical-Surgical Nursing and/or Gerontology is an asset.
  • Experience in geriatrics, acute care, or related fields (minimum 3-5 years).
  • Skills in leadership, collaboration, and clinical judgment.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.

This full-time position offers 75 hours bi-weekly, day shifts, including weekends. Eligible nurses may qualify for the Community Commitment Program for Nurses (CCPN), which offers a $25,000 incentive grant for a 24-month commitment. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates moving at least 250 km.
