• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Be a part of a meaningful and innovative initiative aimed at providing high quality geriatric care in the tertiary emergency department at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) in Edmonton, Alberta. The Geriatric Emergency Management NP (GEM-NP), will provide specialized care to emergency patients with geriatric syndromes and frailty with moderate acuity and high complexity needs. As part of a physician-led team, the NP will conduct geriatric assessments, provide interventions, and develop care plans. The NP will collaborate extensively with the interdisciplinary team, community resources and patient caregivers to support discharges, and they will be responsible for following up patient status in the community. We are seeking Nurse Practitioners who have geriatric expertise that can adapt to the dynamic emergency environment. Experience in geriatric care is foundational to this role. As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems.
