St. Joseph's Hospital continues to expand its role in the treatment of complex medical and chronic disease, illness prevention, research and education. The Trauma and Violence Specialized Primary Care Program (TVSPCP) is an innovative new initiative providing comprehensive, trauma-and-violence-informed primary care for individuals who have experienced interpersonal, structural, and systemic violence. The program places particular focus on responding to the needs of those impacted by gender-based violence (GBV), recognizing its profound and lasting impacts on health, safety, and access to care. This integrated model brings together primary care, mental health, and social supports to improve access, equity, and outcomes for populations traditionally underserved by the health system. Grounded in evidence and guided by principles of health equity, cultural safety, and anti-oppression, the program is committed to ongoing research, evaluation, and quality improvement to ensure services remain responsive, accountable, and impactful.
The Trauma and Violence Specialized Primary Care Program is currently seeking a Nurse Practitioner/Clinical Nurse Specialist (NP/CNS) who will be a key clinical and strategic contributor to the success of this emerging program. In addition to providing advanced primary care within a collaborative interprofessional team, the NP/CNS will participate in research, and support continuous quality improvement initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to shape a program from the ground up, while directly impacting the health and well-being of clients with complex histories of trauma, including survivors of gender-based violence, intimate partner violence, and other forms of structural harm.
