About The Opportunity

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides comprehensive clinical care in designated service areas. The NP collaborates with the healthcare team to deliver person and family-centered care. As the most responsible healthcare provider (MRHCP), the NP works autonomously to diagnose, interpret tests, prescribe medications, and perform procedures. The NP manages admissions, transfers, discharges within their scope, and provides direct inpatient care, integrating physical, psychological, spiritual, and community needs into holistic care plans.

Nurse Practitioners adhere to the Nova Scotia College of Nursing Standards of Practice and the Canadian Nurses Association’s Code of Ethics. They are accountable for safe, competent, ethical care within their scope, maintaining professional development and competence.

The NP aligns their practice with Nova Scotia Health’s principles, including the organization’s vision, mission, values, safety, quality, partnerships, and collaboration.

About You

We are seeking candidates with:

  • Masters of Nursing – Advanced Nursing Practice stream
  • Current registration or eligibility to register as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Active-practicing license with the NSCN or eligibility for registration
  • Successful completion of the NP examination
  • CNA Certification in a relevant field (asset)
  • Current BCLS certification
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, innovative thinking
  • Adaptability to changing environments
  • Strong leadership, organizational skills, judgment, and initiative
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
  • Knowledge of additional languages, especially French (asset)

Hours
  • Permanent Part-time: 30 hours biweekly

Compensation and Benefits
Hourly rate: $59.47 - $69.52
With 25 years of NP experience: $75.96/hour
Benefits include health, dental, travel, disability, life insurance, and pension plan.
