Job description

Position Overview

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible and accountable for comprehensive assessments of patients/clients/residents, including diagnosing diseases, disorders, and conditions. The Nurse Practitioner initiates treatment, including healthcare management, therapeutic interventions, and prescribing medications, in accordance with statutory and regulatory standards, limits, conditions, policies, and guidelines. They provide professional guidance to other health professionals and practice autonomously and interdependently within an interdisciplinary healthcare team, making referrals to physicians and others as appropriate.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with patients/clients/residents and interdisciplinary team members to identify and assess trends and patterns affecting health outcomes.
  • Develop and implement population and evidence-based strategies to improve health.
  • Participate in policy-making activities influencing health services and practices.
  • Engage in peer review and self-review to evaluate service outcomes at individual, community, and population levels.
Qualifications

Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing NP, successful completion of the OSCE, and two years of recent, relevant clinical nursing experience.
