Saskatchewan Health Authority in Regina is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (RN/NP) for part-time regular work in the Sexually Transmitted Diseases Specialty Clinic. You will join an interdisciplinary primary health care team providing community-based services, assessment, and treatment for sexually transmitted infections.

The role requires RN with NP certification and CRNS registration, with BCLS/ACLS. Hours include days/evenings/weekends; based at 2110 Hamilton Street.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary health services in the community as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for clients, independently or with a physician.
  • Examine patients for sexually transmitted infections and deliver acute and preventive care.

Job Description: This position works as part of an interdisciplinary primary health care team. Under the direction of the Clinical Integration Communicable Disease Sexual Health Manager and Supervisor, the Nurse Practitioner will provide primary health services to the community of the Saskatchewan Health Authority. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for clients in the community both independently and collaboratively with a physician, depending upon the complexity of client needs. This employee will examine patients for sexually transmitted infections and ensure necessary assessments and treatments are carried out. This includes: health promotion and protection; first line treatment and emergency services; provision of supportive counselling and instruction in management of medical conditions; disease and injury prevention; initiating and conducting community needs assessments and participating in evaluative projects; and collaboration with and referral to other health care professionals and specialists as required.

Education
  • Graduate from an approved School of Nursing.
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is desired.
  • Certification in Primary Care Nurse Practitioner or equivalent program is required.
  • Current BCLS and ACLS certification.
  • Current certification in ITLS and PALS
Experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience as a Registered Nurse in primary care, acute or emergency care.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in community needs assessment, community development and health promotion.
  • Previous experience working within a community setting with Aboriginal clients would be an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrates knowledge of community services, programs and resources.
  • Knowledge of health promotion and population health principles and concepts.
  • Knowledge of current Aboriginal health issues.
  • Knowledge of common medical conditions and treatments.

  • Scheduled hours of work may be reduced (if applicable) during the rotation stipulated when a statutory holiday is recognized during that period.
