Your Opportunity:

Nurse Practitioner, Outpatient Oncology. Are you looking to show your expertise and take a lead role in the development and delivery of oncology care to patients in Central Alberta? Cancer Care Alberta is currently searching for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our team at the Central Alberta Cancer Centre in Red Deer. Reporting to the Manager of Ambulatory and Systemic Therapy, you will be an integral member of our outpatient team working within a fast-paced environment that prioritizes patient and family centered cancer care. In this clinical focused position, you will work collaboratively with all members of the health care team to coordinate the treatment and management of adult oncology patients. Duties include ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing pharmaceuticals, blood and blood products and diagnostic imaging agents, ordering medical devices and other therapies, as well as performing procedures, interventions and/or treatments. The NP will require in-depth knowledge of adult acute and chronic illness that will be used to deliver oncology care across multiple tumor groups. The NP provides leadership and focuses on improving outcomes and quality of care by advancing nursing and interdisciplinary practice in oncology care with advanced and evidence-based practice. The NP, in consultation with the medical and radiation oncology teams, will take a lead role in developing frameworks and strategies to facilitate the implementation of best practices in oncology. This position is supported by ongoing educational opportunities and mentorship from the current Nurse Practitioner team at the Central Alberta Cancer Center. Clinical and dedicated office time hours are incorporated into the existing work schedule to balance the expectations for this role.

Description:

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years of adult acute clinical experience as a registered nurse. Willingness to complete additional education and/or certifications specific to area of practice. Professional communication, organization, systems thinking, and interpersonal skills. (ex. reporting, electronic charting, presenting, triaging,) Proven critical thinking skills and the ability to work both independently, and collaboratively, within a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated leadership abilities and strong time management skills. Students in the final year of a recognized NP program are encouraged to apply.

Preferred Qualifications:

NP practice experience in Oncology across a variety of tumor groups is an asset, but all candidates with clinical experience will be considered. NP experience in an ambulatory setting and/or internal medicine. Canadian oncology nursing certifications or evidence of completed oncology-related courses. RN practice experience in Oncology across a variety of tumor groups. Knowledge and experience with Connect Care, and Netcare applications.
