When his field of expertise ends, his ability to navigate the healthcare system will enable him to coordinate and obtain the care each patient needs.

The ultimate role of the IPSSP will be to share their unique knowledge of the patient with other team members and, where necessary, ensure a meaningful, tailored and sensitive approach to treatment, truly embodying patient- and family-centered care.

The position provides leadership in updating evidence-based practices from academic sources related to clinical practice. It facilitates and promotes an environment of learning, continuing education and research. It promotes the objectives set by nursing and patient services management and ensures the quality and safety of care.

She must have a holistic approach to patient care and follow the “FOCUSED”* model for care delivery and decision-making.
