The Section of Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) provides comprehensive, tertiary inpatient acute and complex care to children in Southern Alberta, SE British Columbia, and SW Saskatchewan; a catchment area of approximately 2.5 million people. We run a busy service and provide 24/7 inpatient coverage for approximately 80% of hospitalized medical patients. We provide consultation to subspecialty, surgical, and psychiatry inpatient services, and support regional partners across Southern Alberta. The PHM service consists of 7 general pediatric inpatient teams, including: 2 clinical teaching teams, 2 non-teaching acute care teams, 2 non-teaching complex care teams, and 1 admitting service. We have 1 overnight team managing reassessments and admissions from multiple areas. Staff Hospital Pediatricians lead emergency resuscitation codes outside ER and ICU. We are a collaborative, diverse group passionate about mentoring, teaching, and working within a multidisciplinary team.
As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide comprehensive health services across the lifespan. Responsibilities include assessing, diagnosing, ordering and interpreting tests, prescribing treatments, and performing procedures. You will utilize advanced nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership, Health Systems, Education, and Research to improve care quality and healthcare systems.
