Position Overview

UHN seeks an experienced professional for the role of Nurse Manager - 6AB Neurovascular Unit & Neurosciences Step Down at Toronto Western Hospital.

Unit Details

The 6AB Neurovascular Unit (NVU) and neurosciences step down at the Krembil Brain Institute is Canada's first of its kind. It features a 44-bed inpatient unit with 20 High Acuity Level II beds for neurosurgical and neurological patients requiring specialized monitoring and care. The unit provides multidisciplinary care for neurovascular conditions including aneurysms, stroke, and vascular malformations of the brain and spinal cord.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a department focused on quality patient care.
  • Manage daily operations, including human, financial, and space resources.
  • Support and advance unit, site, and organizational strategic priorities.
  • Develop and motivate staff, and implement educational strategies.
  • Drive innovative care delivery models and enhance seamless, integrated care.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Health or Social sciences or equivalent.
  • Valid registration/membership in relevant professional college/association.
  • Specialty certification (e.g., stroke, neurovascular, neurosciences) is an asset.
  • At least 5 years of related experience with supervisory/management expertise.
  • Leadership experience in Neurosciences, Stroke, or Critical Care is valuable.
  • Proven change management skills.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
