Your Opportunity:
The Cardiac Sciences department is currently recruiting a temporary part-time, Nurse Clinician (NC) position, in the Cardiac Specialty Clinics. The NC’s current assignment is responsible for coordinating the collaboration of the multidisciplinary team to provide the necessary investigations, care and treatment of patients and families referred to the Cardio Oncology Clinic, Amyloid and or SHC Valve Specialty Clinic. The NC triages and assesses the appropriateness of referrals to each of these clinics and consults with the associated Cardiologist regarding plan of care. The NC orders and reviews tests and clinical investigations in accordance with clinical algorithms under physician direction. They are also required to provide a significant component of clinical teaching, counselling, follow up care and bedside care as required. The Nurse Clinician acts as a role model for the department and works collaboratively to enhance interpersonal relationships and team effectiveness. The incumbent assists in the development and implementation of policies, quality improvement programs, departmental procedures and best practice guidelines.

As a Nurse Clinician (NC), you will be responsible for the coordination of an interprofessional team, in the provision of quality patient (client, resident) care in order to meet the operational priorities and requirements within a clinical setting. You will use an integrative leadership approach in assisting, planning, implementing and evaluating care needs, while assuming responsibility for staff assignments, patient flow and clinical resources. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Nursing Degree required. Minimum 5 years current experience in acute care cardiology required; with recent Cardiac Intensive Care, Cardiac Surgery or Cardiac Cath Lab experience preferred. Minimum 2 years of ambulatory experience, preferably in cardiac, in the past 5 years required. Cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation is required. Experience with Patient and Family Centered Care. Must be able to sit and work at a computer for extended amounts of time.
Preferred Qualifications:
Nurse Clinician experience in an acute cardiology unit, Cardiac Intensive Care or Cardiac Surgery preferred. CNA Cardiology Certification. Ability to create and evaluate patient care plans by coordinating with physicians and other members of the multidisciplinary team. Provide patient education utilizing a variety of educational approaches. Strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills. Experience with the following computer systems: Connect Care & Netcare.
