Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview
Experience
  • Minimum of four years recent acute care nursing experience with demonstrated clinical practice competency relevant to end of life care.
  • Experience with end of life care and caring for patients and families making end of life decisions.
  • Previous experience in clinical education and may include past experience as a preceptor to students and/or orienting new staff.
  • Proficiency in establishing peripheral IV’s and accessing central venous devices.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Master’s degree in Nursing is preferred (equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).

SPECIAL TRAINING:

  • Successful completion of post-basic program with emphasis on providing end of life care preferred.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Must be registered with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM)).
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.
  • Valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle required.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Proficient with computers, software programs, and applications such as Windows, Word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Familiarity with online learning modalities required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Aboriginal language and/or knowledge in Aboriginal customs, traditions and values.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in complex situations.
  • Expertise and competence in nursing practice, interviewing, counseling, teaching and group dynamics.
  • Demonstrated to work independently but collaboratively with patients, families and members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with referring physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, nurses and community members.
  • Displays initiative, accountability, good time management, decision-making ability, leadership and skills in research and quality assurance.
Physical Requirements
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort required.
  • Travel required within the province, includes travel to health care facilities and patient’s homes.
