Position Overview

The Registered Nurse, reporting to the Manager of Health Services, provides registered nursing services for patients/residents, including those with complex and unpredictable health needs. Responsibilities include: independent nursing services, administration of prescribed treatments, leadership within the healthcare team, and facilitating coordination of care and discharge. May oversee other nurses, students, healthcare aides, and support staff. Collaborates with physicians and health professionals in the facility and community. Demonstrates commitment to the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and Deer Lodge Centre. Performs duties in accordance with health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment and reporting safety concerns.

Experience
  • Experience with chronic illness, geriatrics, and complex continuing care.
Education
  • Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing program.
  • Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) certification preferred.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba.
  • Participation in professional associations (e.g., ARNM) preferred.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Knowledge of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and Deer Lodge Centre's mission, values, and policies.
  • Understanding of relevant legislations and standards, including PHIA, WHMIS, and the Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses.
  • Competence in geriatrics and complex care nursing principles.
  • Ability to prioritize, delegate, respond to demands, and adapt to changing situations.
  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and perform effectively in a stressful environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort required.
