Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Manager of Health Services, the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing professional nursing services for patients, including those with complex and unpredictable health needs. Responsibilities include independent nursing services, administration of prescribed treatments, leadership within the healthcare team, and facilitating patient care and discharge coordination.

Demonstrates a commitment to the region/facility/unit's vision, values, goals, and objectives.

Experience
  • Recent related experience is an asset (up to 2 years of experience may be required or preferred).
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing program required.
  • Completion of relevant post-basic programs may be required.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Maintain and provide proof of registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
  • Active participation in professional associations (e.g., ARNM) is preferred.
  • CPR training as per employer policy.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Align with MHC’s core values, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of nursing standards, ethics, scope of practice, and relevant legislation.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Competence in Indigenous languages or knowledge of Indigenous customs is an asset.
  • Critical thinking, prioritization, adaptability, and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and software applications.
Physical Requirements
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort required.

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.

Requirements include a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check, Child and Adult Abuse Registry Checks. The candidate is responsible for associated charges. Checks are valid if obtained within six months prior to employment start date.

Employees cannot hold multiple positions across WRHA that total more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA includes several facilities and programs.
