Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Manager of Health Services and demonstrating a commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the WRHA, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to clients in the community, including those with complex and unpredictable health needs. These services include independent nursing services, administration of prescribed treatments, leadership within the healthcare team, and facilitating coordination of client care and discharge. Services may be provided in the home, school, workplace, or at a home care nursing clinic.

Experience
  • 2 years of recent related experience preferred.
  • Satisfactory employment record required.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing education program required.
  • CNA Community Health Nurses Certification or relevant applicable certification preferred.
  • Additional wound care and chronic disease management education preferred.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Maintain and provide proof of registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g., Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
  • CPR training as per Employer policy.
  • Immunization and Tuberculin testing as per WRHA policy.
  • Valid Manitoba Class 5 driver's license required.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Knowledge of:
    • CRNM Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses.
    • Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics.
    • Community Health Nurse Standards of Practice & Home Health Competencies.
    • Scope of practice in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
    • Regional/facility policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
    • Nursing care related to community nursing.
    • Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Preference for applicants proficient in an Indigenous language or with knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions, and values.
  • Critical thinking/problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize care, delegate, and monitor outcomes.
  • Ability to respond to multiple demands and adapt quickly to changing situations.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, maintaining concentration amidst interruptions.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS, Universal Precautions, and other legislated acts.
  • Understanding of healthcare team roles and responsibilities, principles of delegation/assignment, and adult learning strategies.
Physical Requirements
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort required.
  • Ability to work in various community settings under different environmental conditions.
  • Use of a reliable motor vehicle suitable for all conditions.

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.

This position requires current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check. The candidate is responsible for any service charges. Checks are current if obtained within six months prior to employment start date.

Employees cannot hold multiple positions across the WRHA that total more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA includes various hospitals, clinics, and community services.
