Job summary

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Exploration Coordinator, the Exploration Field Technician position is critical within the Exploration team, directly supporting geologists and ensuring smooth field operations. The role involves hands-on tasks such as drill site inspections, surveying, downhole surveys, and data QAQC, all while upholding Agnico Eagle's standards for health, safety, and environmental responsibility. If you're considering this role or preparing for an interview, it might be helpful to focus on relevant skills and experiences that align with these responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Choose and implement access to drilling sites and monitor the drilling rejects deposit;
  • Conduct environmental and health and safety inspections at drilling sites;
  • Conduct and train on the use of downhole survey and oriented core instrumentation;
  • Surveying experience. Familiarity with total station, Leicha, GPS, and drone operation preferred;
  • Support the maintenance of camps, buildings, vehicles, and equipment;
  • Supervise logistics of drilling programs, field work, reclamation programs;
  • Manage drill core and rock samples inventory;
  • Assist in supervising core shack operations as needed.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • College diploma in mining technology or any other training deemed relevant combined with 5 years of experience.
  • Methodological and rigorous approach.
  • Physical ability to manipulate loads of 50 pounds regularly and walk extended distances in the tundra.
  • Experience with ArGIS is an asset.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team. Basic carpenter and mechanical skills are an asset.
  • Basic vehicle operator skills (snowcat, challenger, skid steer) is an asset.
  • Helicopter logistics management is an asset.
  • Strong ability to communicate in English (oral and written).
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel.
  • Schedule: 14 days of work in Nunavut, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d’Or, Quebec;
