Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJob Summary:
The Nuclear Weapon Technical Writer supports the DTRA NE-NL Logistics & Maintenance Division (NLMJ), Joint Nuclear Weapons Publications System (JNWPS) Team. This role focuses on drafting and editing technical publications, ensuring compliance with style guides, and supporting the JNWPS review process.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft and edit nuclear weapons technical publications per the Government Printing Office Style Manual, JNWPS Continuity Book, and Technical Publication 1-1.
  • Provide draft publications for Comment and Review, Consolidating Comments, and Final Product Review processes, delivering by deadlines with fewer than two errors.
  • Create and maintain documentation such as checklists, SIPR/DIAMONDS logs, and quality assurance checks.
  • Upload publications to DIAMONDS and manage the Technical Publication tracking system.
  • Interface with JNWPS counterparts inside and outside DTRA, resolving content issues.
  • Prepare, reproduce, and distribute media products, including CD burns via ARL Safe.
  • Update reference materials and document conversations as requested.
  • Adhere to JNWPS Continuity of Operations (COOP) guidance and checklists.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma with 6 years of demonstrated experience performing these duties, or BA/BS degree with 8 years of similar experience.
  • U.S. citizenship and active Secret clearance at contract award, with ability to obtain TS/SCI.
  • Expertise in technical writing and editing, with proficiency in Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to function independently.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with JNWPS processes and DoD technical publication standards.
  • Familiarity with DIAMONDS and secure data handling protocols.
  • Ability to manage multiple publication projects and meet strict deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented approach to ensure error-free deliverables (less than two errors per document).
