Overview

The Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT department at the UAH is offering an opportunity for Nuclear Medicine Technologists to become a vital member of our team. The NM/PET supervisor role is responsible for the day-to-day operations and supervision of both the Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT departments. The role provides leadership to the interdisciplinary team of NMTs, Physicians, RNs, LPNs, Admin Support, and Service Workers, ensures completion of orientation, education and training for all staff, maintains and adjusts booking schedules as needed, schedules all NMTs, payroll, maintains accurate records, ensures compliance with policies and procedures, and supports the NM Manager with operational planning. This role offers opportunities to develop leadership, time management, conflict management, project planning, and regulation compliance. The successful candidate may be assigned On Call coverage and must meet the technical and physical demands of the position, including NM and PET/CT scanning (including diagnostic CTs), transporting and transferring patients, and handling and wearing lead for radiation protection.

Responsibilities
  • As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) II, perform clinical coordination, monitor care, evaluate and supervise staff, and fulfill duties as radiation and laser safety officer as assigned.
  • Lead, organize, and direct all technical and daily work activities as the senior technologist to ensure services are effective, efficient, and of the highest standard.
  • Ensure workload distribution and productivity standards and procedures are followed.
Qualifications
  • Completion of diploma from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMT) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT).
  • Minimum three years of experience in an acute care hospital performing SPECT/CT, PET/CT, clinical trials, student preceptorship, and diagnostic CTs in the Nuclear Medicine setting.
  • Leadership and/or project management experience. ACMDTT enhanced practice license for CT and Contrast Media for Nuclear Medicine Technologists. Basic life support certification. Class 7 TDG certification.
  • Preferred: Health Canada Division 5 Training, Good Clinical Practice Training, iSTAT and Glucometer Training, and completed AHS ROL.
