Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Ontario seeks a Mechanical Engineer with a focus on CANDU reactor components to join our nuclear design team. You will perform conceptual through detailed design, prepare technical documents, and interface with regulatory bodies such as TSSA/CNSC as required.

The role requires a bachelor’s or master’s in mechanical engineering, P.Eng. eligibility in Ontario, and a minimum of five years’ experience, with strong GD&T and stress calculation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent).
• Licensed or eligible to be licensed as Professional Engineer in Ontario.
• Minimum 5 years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience applying GD&T.
• Experience in classical stress calculation.
• Familiarity with nuclear ASME Code and CSA Standards is an asset.
• Proficient in design processes and basic scheduling awareness.
• Proficient in Excel, Mathcad, or similar calculations tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform conceptual, preliminary and detailed mechanical design work for reactor components.
• Lead conceptual and detailed phases of engineering work for reactor components.
• Prepare and review technical documents: calculations, drawings, BOMs, specifications.
• Support technical leads in development, planning and scheduling of work.
• Assist proposals, procurement, manufacturing, qualification and installation efforts.
• Define work scope, respond to technical questions, and report progress to client.
