The Engineering Director will be responsible for simultaneously managing multiple projects, pursuits and developing relationships within the Canadian nuclear market to provide engineering services and operational execution. He or she will be expected to have a firm understanding of the regional team’s core technical capabilities and the needs of major clients to provide engineering services and management. The successful candidate should have existing, strong relationships with multiple targeted clients in his or her region and should have established contact with other potential, secondary clients that could be leveraged in the future, while having a deep understanding of Canadian nuclear regulatory requirements and export controls. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the development and growth of engineering nuclear services with oversight of engineering team.

Location

This role will be located and focused in Oakville, Ontario.

Responsibilities

Operational Excellence : Ensure the team delivers high-quality engineering services while meeting client expectations and project goals.

Team Management : Leading design sponsors, managers, and sub-consultants to ensure project execution. Leads the development and growth of engineering nuclear services with oversight of engineering team.

Quality Assurance : Ensuring design and planning align with Kiewit's standards.

Strategic Vision : Ability to position the team effectively in the market and align efforts with the broader business objectives.

Project Management : Oversee multiple projects and pursuits simultaneously, ensuring operational execution and delivery of engineering services.

Risk Management : Overseeing quality, risk, and change management processes.

Compliance : Adhering to contract agreements and maintaining cost/schedule control.

Project Controls : Monitoring design progress and integrating risk/change management.

Continuous Improvement : Fostering a mindset of quality and innovation.

Market Strategy : Build and execute short-term and long-term strategies to support the overall business line and ensure a stable and growing backlog.

Strategic Communication : Persuasively presenting ideas to gain support.

Qualifications

  • Education : Bachelor's degree in Engineering or higher.

  • Licensing : Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario with flexibility to obtain licensure in other jurisdictions as needed.

  • Experience :

  • 15 years of direct experience in nuclear, focusing on design-build project management and engineering/architecture operations in commercial nuclear applications.

  • At least 5 years in a Senior Design Manager role, managing large, complex, multidisciplinary projects.

  • Travel : Willingness to travel 25% across the region. This role will be located and focused in Ontario.
