Job description

Nova Scotia Health is seeking volunteers to join their Community Health Boards in Colchester, East Hants, and Pictou. As a Community Health Board (CHB) member, you will work with community partners and organizations, local municipalities, and Nova Scotia Health to improve health and wellness in your community.

Role Description: CHB members gather ideas and share information about how to improve and promote health and wellness close to home. They focus on factors that affect health and wellness, including income, education, and sense of belonging. CHB members advocate for actions to promote and improve health and wellness based on community input.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend and actively participate in CHB meetings
  • Maintain a positive and collaborative working relationship with CHB members, NSHA staff, and community partners
  • Develop a broad knowledge and understanding of community health and wellness issues
  • Support and abide by CHB decisions
  • Adhere to CHB and NSHA policies and guidelines

Requirements:

  • Minimum 16 years old
  • Must reside in Nova Scotia
  • Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search required
  • Must reside in the catchment area of the Community Health Board
