Bayshore HealthCare’s Northern Nursing program has provided high-quality community health relief staffing services to Indigenous and Northern communities since 1997. Our Nurses experience exciting assignments in Northern Canada's isolated, semi-isolated, and remote areas. Work closely with diverse Indigenous communities (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) providing care to community members in Canada’s remote Northern communities of British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.

The work you will do :

  1. Consult with physicians and the Health Center Charge Nurse to work within an expanded scope of practice providing healthcare services to pre-natal and adult patients for trauma and primary care, including delivery of newborns, treating minor acute illnesses and injuries, and conducting general treatment clinics.
  2. Apply Emergency and ICU experience utilizing observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis, counseling, and health teaching according to the established care plan.
  3. Ensure that the emotional, spiritual, physical comfort, and safety of clients are met to the greatest extent within the scope of practice.
  4. Utilize strong assessment skills, exceptional interpersonal skills, and proven ability to effectively communicate to handle difficult situations objectively and consistently.

Job Qualifications

Who You Are :

  • You are a graduate from an accredited School of Nursing and have a nursing license through the provincial governing body in good standing.
  • You have or are willing to obtain a nursing license through the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM) as required.
  • You have 3,000 hours of recent work experience in primary care and advanced clinical assessments, obtained in emergency, ICU, or community settings within the past three years, or 3,000 hours in remote, isolated, or semi-isolated communities within the past five years.
  • You are confident and skilled in evaluating the need for further assessment outside of the community if necessary.
  • You may be required to carry personal or medical supplies weighing up to 25 pounds independently.
  • Mandatory skillsets and additional training requirements will be discussed during the interview.
