Job summary

CBC North is seeking a Community Video Journalist to join our English Services team in Hay River. You will gather, write, shoot and package stories for video, digital and audio platforms while meeting deadlines.

The role requires a journalism background, strong time management, and the ability to connect with local communities across the Northwest Territories. It is a full-time, permanent position with varied shifts including early starts and weekends.

Qualifications

• University degree in journalism or equivalent with a minimum of three years of related experience.
• Demonstrated experience in a news/breaking news environment.
• Knowledge of CBC Journalistic Standards and Practices is an asset.
• Strong reporting for video and audio platforms.

Responsibilities

• Pitch, research, write and package original stories for CBC platforms.
• Respond quickly to breaking news events across digital, radio, social and video.
• Regularly present stories on-air on radio and TV with context.
• Develop contacts and sources across the Northwest Territories.
