At the same time, the risks posed by climate change and aging infrastructure require an array of dynamic and innovative solutions to deliver resilient utility services. This energy transition is still in its early stages, and presents significant technical, logistical, and market challenges. Decarbonization will require detailed planning, multi‑disciplinary collaboration, significant financial resources, and motivated staff to support successful implementation.
There is an upward trending pressure on the renewables industry to provide reliable baseload power. Jacobs has assessed that the geothermal market in North America has an emerging surge of interest across geothermal power generation, direct use for process industries, district heating and ground source heat pump technologies driven by decarbonization of almost all sectors.
