Noon Hour Supervision Assistants

On-call, temporary and permanent positions available

If you enjoy working with school-aged children and prefer part-time work, the Supervision Assistant role at SD62 might be ideal for you. Supervision Assistants are essential in creating a caring and safe environment for students during non-instructional times. Assignments range from 1 to 8 hours per week at either elementary (Grades K-5) or middle (Grades 6-8) schools.

Located adjacent to Victoria on southern Vancouver Island, School District No. 62 (Sooke) is the fastest-growing district on Vancouver Island and among the fastest in BC. The district operates across five municipalities: Langford, Colwood, Metchosin, Sooke, and the Highlands, acknowledging the traditional territories of the Coast Salish, Nuu-chah-nulth, Esquimalt, and Songhees Nations. What We Offer…
  • Payment of an Occupational First Aid Level 1 Training course
  • A starting wage of $28.56 per hour, for 5 hours per week, during the school year (September 1 to June 30)

  • Paid vacation during Winter and Spring Break (per CUPE Local 459 Collective Agreement)
  • Two professional development days, one self-directed day per year, and additional funds for further training
Application Requirements

Ideal candidates are passionate about working with children, demonstrating patience and understanding to foster a welcoming, safe environment. Candidates should have:

  • Secondary school graduation
  • Up to three months of related experience with school-aged children
  • Valid Occupational First Aid – Level 1 Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Willingness to undergo a Criminal Record Check

To support a well-organized, supervised environment for students during non-instructional times.
Performance Responsibilities
  • Assist with student supervision during non-instructional times
  • Provide first aid and attend to sick children
  • Manage lunch, snack, and cleanup routines
  • Assist children with clothing and dressing as needed
  • Support bus loading and unloading activities

The hourly rate for this on-call position is $28.56, as per the collective agreement.
