Greetings!

You will lead the HPE NonStop (Tandem) hardware / software upgrade program and migrate Wealth Management backend trading applications to the new software stack. The role spans hands‑on development (COBOL / SCOBOL / Java), platform engineering on NonStop (Guardian / OSS), data migration (Enscribe, SQL / MX), Shadowbase replication strategy, and integration with internal and vendor systems over SOAP / REST.

Job Title : Lead HPE NonStop (Tandem) Engineer / COBOL Developer – Wealth Management Trading

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and lead the NonStop HW / SW upgrade (OS / NSK, Pathway, TMF, SQL / MX, middleware, compilers, JDK8→JDK17 compatibility, etc.).
• Migrate and modernize COBOL / SCOBOL and Java services to the upgraded stack; refactor where needed for JDK17.
• Own data conversion / migration strategies across Enscribe and SQL / MX , including schema changes, DDL, indexing, and performance tuning.
• Design and implement Shadowbase replication topologies, failover, and rollback strategies.
• Integrate NonStop services with vendor and internal applications using SOAP / REST interfaces; define and harden contracts, retries, idempotency, and error handling.
• Automate deployment, configuration, and operational tasks using TACL and Bash ; contribute to CI / CD pipelines (Git / Jenkins / etc.).
• Performance, resiliency, and observability : profiling, TMF auditing, EMS monitoring / alerting, capacity planning, and HA / DR testing.
• Security & compliance : ensure adherence to enterprise controls, auditability, and least-privilege principles.
• Lead cutover rehearsals (runbooks, RTO / RPO validation) and provide L3 support during and after go-live.
• Mentor team members and coordinate with architecture, infrastructure, vendors, and operations.

Must-Have Qualifications

5+ years hands-on development on HPE NonStop / Tandem (NSK, Guardian / OSS) .

Strong programming experience in COBOL & SCOBOL , Java (JDK8 and JDK17) , TACL , and Bash .

Proficiency with C / C++ and TAL on NonStop.

Deep knowledge of Enscribe and NonStop SQL / MX (design, DDL, performance).

Practical experience with Shadowbase (replication, data synchronization, zero / low‑downtime migrations).

Solid understanding of Pathway , TMF , transactions, auditing, and recovery.

Proven track record leading NonStop platform upgrades and complex migrations in mission‑critical, 24×7 environments.

Experience building and consuming SOAP and REST services.

Strong troubleshooting across Guardian processes, EMS logs, Inspect / SCF, etc.

Excellent stakeholder management and vendor coordination skills.
