Gtrworldwide is seeking medical laboratory technologists to deliver accurate diagnostics and support clinical decisions through timely processing of patient specimens. You will operate and maintain analyzers, perform quality control, and report results in a compliant, timely manner.

The role requires registration or certification as applicable, with a minimum of one year of clinical lab experience, rotating shifts, and a commitment to biosafety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in medical laboratory technology or equivalent.
• Registration or certification with the relevant professional body where required.
• Minimum of one year of clinical lab experience or practicum in a clinical setting.
• Working knowledge of LIS, SOPs, and documentation practices.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including evenings or weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized lab tests in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and transfusion medicine.
• Collect, label, receive, and process patient specimens with proper handling and chain of custody.
• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot analyzers and related equipment; perform calibrations and preventive maintenance.
• Record, validate, and report test results using LIS; communicate urgent findings to clinical staff.
• Conduct quality control procedures and participate in proficiency testing.
• Adhere to biosafety, infection control, and regulatory procedures; participate in improvement activities.

Job Summary

Main Duties

• Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests in areas such as hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, and transfusion medicine.
• Collect, label, receive, and process patient specimens, ensuring proper handling, preservation, and chain of custody.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory analyzers and related equipment, and perform routine calibrations and preventive maintenance.
• Conduct and document quality control procedures, participate in proficiency testing, and elevate deviations for investigation.
• Record, validate, and report test results using laboratory information systems and communicate critical or urgent findings to clinical staff.
• Adhere to biosafety, infection prevention, and regulatory procedures, and participate in continuous improvement and training activities.

Requirements

• Completion of a recognized diploma or degree program in medical laboratory technology or equivalent education.
• Registration or certification with the appropriate provincial or national professional body where required.
• Minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience or successful practicum placement in a clinical setting.
• Working knowledge of laboratory information systems, standard operating procedures, and documentation practices.
• Understanding of quality assurance, biosafety, hazardous materials handling, and infection control protocols.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, evenings, or weekends as needed and to manage workload effectively under time constraints.
