Job summary

A leading community organization is seeking a Nobody's Perfect Program Facilitator to lead supportive group sessions for parents of young children. Reporting to the Manager of Community Programs, the program facilitator will be responsible for leading group sessions designed to support parents of children from birth to age five. This role involves creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where parents can share their experiences and learn from one another. Responsibilities include providing valuable information on child development, health, safety, and behavior, as well as encouraging open discussions and fostering a supportive community. Planning and organizing each session, ensuring all materials and activities are prepared, and maintaining confidentiality and respect for all participants are key aspects of the position. The ideal candidate will have experience in group facilitation and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of child development and parenting practices is essential, and certification in the Nobody's Perfect program is an asset.

  • Facilitate weekly group sessions for parents, using a participant-centered and strengths-based approach
  • Create a welcoming and non-judgmental environment where parents feel comfortable sharing their experiences.
  • Encourage group discussions and interactive activities to help parents build on their existing knowledge and skills
  • Support parents in developing self-esteem, coping skills, and mutual support networks.
  • Connect parents with community resources and services as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and session content.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities

We'd love to hear from people with:

  • A facilitator certificate in Nobody's Perfect Parenting Program, or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience in program planning, implementation and group facilitation
  • Excellent time management, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Current First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain) and Criminal Record Check Required.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and manage time effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound judgements and decisions; effective prioritizing and problem solving
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable and multi-task in a high demand environment

Role Competencies:

Position details:

  • Casual hours
  • Commitment: 6 hours per week
  • Duration: 6 weeks per session
  • Frequency: 4 sessions per year
