Job summary

35 hours per week with a strong focus on medication administration, sterile techniques, and direct patient care. The successful candidate will hold a 1–2 year nursing diploma, be eligible for provincial Practical Nurse licensure, and have CPR/First Aid credentials.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English.
• College/CEGEP or similar 1–2 year nursing diploma.
• 7 months to <1 year related experience preferred.
• Eligible for practical nurse licensure in province; CP R and First Aid certificates required.
• Accurate, client-focused, dependable with strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications.
• Apply aseptic techniques including sterile dressing.
• Conduct specimen collection.
• Ensure infection control measures are followed.
• Monitor nutritional intake.
• Observe and record medication effects.
• Record observations in patient files.
• Take vital signs.
• Assist surgeons by preparing instruments and setting up equipment.
• Provide pre- and post-operative care.
• Monitor respiratory and IV therapies.
• Provide safety and health education.
• Provide nursing services within defined scope of practice.
• Monitor patient progress and consult with healthcare team.
