- 36 hours per week (3 x 12 hour shifts - Thursday, Friday and Saturday 7pm - 7am)

- £23,624.64 per annum
Our Night Service Assistants are part of a team across the globe, who provide support to ensure we are consistent in the service we provide to our students. Located in the heart of Newcastle, this role requires a hands-on approach to work, ensuring we deliver a cost-effective customer service, night patrol, light cleaning, and maintenance services. While being responsible for the property during night shifts, you will ensure all aspects of the residence continue running smoothly.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Residence Manager, here is a snapshot of what you will do:
Customer Service:
- Cover the front desk and respond to any of the student’s enquiries.
- Provide a friendly and professional customer service to students living in the residences.
- Use in-house computer systems for operational purposes, including bookings and analysis.
- Provide an effective first response to customer queries, complaints, issues, and incidents (e.g., power and water outages, fire alarm evacuations, etc.), resolving, escalating, and/or seeking support where necessary.
- Follow and implement all operating procedures.
- Assist with check-in and check-out of our students’ rooms.
- Get involved with our famous wellbeing and social events.
- Ensure a safe and secure environment for our students.
Security:
- Hourly patrols (split between 2 staff).
Light Cleaning:
- Ensure the communal areas are clean, tidy, and well maintained during peak times.
- Assist with room and kitchen deep cleans during turnaround/end of tenancy.
- Assist with the management of external cleaning contractors as required.
Maintenance:
- Basic Maintenance – unblock drains, painting, door battery changes.
- PPM/Compliance checks including but not limited to flushing of unused outlets and fire door inspections.
- Assist with the management of external contractors onsite for out-of-hours emergencies following company policies.
- Manage your health and safety responsibilities as set out in Section 7 of the Health and Safety at Work Etc. Act 1974, where you have a duty to take care of yourself and those around you, by your acts or omissions, and to cooperate with your employer on health and safety matters.
Qualifications
Sound good so far? Here’s what you’ll need:
- You’ll need to be computer savvy, switched on, approachable, and of course, a night owl. Some experience in security will give you an edge.
- Great customer service and communication skills, being able to effectively engage with people at all levels.
- Be super personable and have a genuine passion for engaging with people.
- Ability to be proactive with strong problem-solving skills.
- Be really organised and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Resilience and adaptability, as well as great cultural diversity awareness.
- Basic maintenance and cleaning awareness.
Preferable:
- IOSH qualification.
- A preferred qualification and/or willingness to undertake training for Carbon Literacy as our pillars are a fundamental part of our brand.
