Qualifications

  • Ability to remain calm and think clearly in high-stress or emergent situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with a compassionate and professional demeanor.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently overnight.
  • CPR/First Aid certification is required by date of employment.
  • Valid drivers license is an asset.

  • Conduct regular patrols of interior and exterior spaces to maintain a safe environment.
  • Monitor access points and ensure building security (doors, windows, alarms).
  • Greet and engage with individuals in a calm, respectful, and non-confrontational manner.
  • De-escalate situations using trauma-informed and nonviolent communication techniques.
  • Support staff and community members during after-hours programs or emergencies.
  • Respond promptly to incidents, disturbances, or safety concerns, following established protocols.
  • Document all incidents, interactions, and overnight activity in shift reports.
  • Coordinate with emergency services if needed, ensuring appropriate escalation.
  • Assist with closing/opening routines as required.
  • Maintain radio or phone communication with on-call supervisors or other designated contacts.

Rather than relying on enforcement alone, the role aims to foster a calm, welcoming, and secure environment during overnight operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicates with Treehouse and Nest staff at the start of each shift & read/leave treehouse communication notes.
  • Conduct regular patrols of interior and exterior spaces on the Nest campus to maintain a safe environment.
  • Monitor access points and ensure building security (e.g., doors, windows, alarms).
  • Greet and engage with individuals in a calm, respectful, and non-confrontational manner.
  • De-escalate situations using trauma-informed and nonviolent communication techniques.
  • Support staff and community members during after-hours programs or emergencies.
