Job Description:
  • Hours: Mon-Fri, 3:15 pm to 1:45 am.

  • Plainsman Mfg. Inc. is a locally owned manufacturing and distribution company operating out of Edmonton, Alberta since 1966.
  • We manufacture and distribute products for oilfield production, pipeline maintenance, construction, and gas and water distribution.
  • We have an in-house engineering department and a full-service manufacturing facility that enables us to respond efficiently to customer and industry needs.
Job Duties / Responsibilities:
  • CNC programming.
  • Overseeing the production process and scheduling.
  • Ensuring timely and efficient work order completion.
  • Supervising the Quality Control department and assisting as required.
  • Following company guidelines and procedures regarding work order/information flow.
  • Working closely with managers to identify and implement the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Enforcing safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Monitoring product standards and quality.
  • Identifying production problems and working with team leaders/programmers to resolve them.
  • During understaffed periods, assisting with organization and restocking of the tool room.
  • Applying lean principles to manufacturing processes to increase quality and reduce waste.
  • Operating CNC machines as needed.
Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Miscellaneous tasks as requested by the manager.
  • Assisting in employee performance reviews.
  • Resolving employee complaints and grievances.
  • Supporting programmers and operators with production issues if necessary.
  • During busy or understaffed periods, assisting with operation of high-demand equipment.
Skills / Experience Requirements:
  • Knowledge of CNC Lathe / Mills.
  • CNC programming skills.
  • Supervisor experience (preferred).
  • High school diploma (preferred).
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles.
