Job summary

IWK Health in Halifax is seeking a Casual Relief Milk Room staff member to prepare, label and store Mother’s and Donor Breast Milk in the NICU using a barcoded patient safety system. The role covers the Milk Room, aseptic milk preparation, and inventory control.

You will keep奶 the Milk Room clean, manage supplies, receive and deliver milk to care areas, and maintain NICU dietary worksheets while collaborating with NICU team members. Flexibility for shifts and weekends is expected.

Qualifications

• Food Service Supervisor certification and/or nutrition degree or technical program.
• Previous experience in a similar role required.
• Demonstrated Math competency.
• Initiative, attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
• Interpersonal and organizational skills demonstrated.
• Flexibility to meet workload demands.
• Ability to work well with others in a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, label and store Mother’s and Donor Breast Milk in NICU using barcode system.
• Prepare milk with aseptic technique and maintain inventory.
• Maintain Milk Room cleanliness and regulate supplies.
• Receive breast milk and formula; deliver prepared milk to patient areas.
• Update dietary worksheets for NICU patients.
• Prepare and pack milk for transfers and discharges.
• Report and collaborate with NICU team members.
