Job summary

Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc. is seeking an Operations Supervisor to lead construction, operations and maintenance of the electrical distribution system, ensuring reliability and safety across Niagara Falls and surrounding communities.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the role supervises crews, coordinates outages, and ensures regulatory and CVP compliance with a strong safety culture and effective leadership.

Qualifications

• Eight years of Journeyperson Powerline experience.
• Certified Journeyperson Powerline.
• Class DZ licence.
• Experience in an electrical utility or similar.
• Knowledge of safety rules and regulations (OH&S, utility codes).

Responsibilities

• Direct line personnel in construction and maintenance activities to ensure reliability and safe production.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising the construction, operations and maintenance of Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc.’s (NPEI) electrical distribution system to ensure system reliability and safe and efficient production.

MAJOR ROLES & RESPONSBILITIES

• Direct line personnel in construction and maintenance activities to ensure system reliability and safe and efficient production.
• Provide direction and technical guidance to crews during emergency and on-call situations and formulate plans to restore outages.
• Provide after-hours operational support on a rotating basis to assist On-Call Powerline Technicians and ensure timely response to operational issues.
• Review project plans and work requests to ensure work is planned and scheduled appropriately and sufficient lead-time is available.
• Review and approve OT’s and ensure maps are up-to-date with equipment, crew locations and status.
• Assist the Director of Facilities, Fleet & Stations in overseeing and managing fleet and fleet services.
• Assist the Director of Facilities, Fleet & Stations in the overseeing and management of facilities maintenance, as required.
• Oversee and direct activities of contractors performing work for NPEI, (e.g. tree trimming, inspections, hydro-vac, traffic control, etc.)
• Ensure projects are completed in accordance with applicable rules, regulations and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure all work is inspected and signed off per NPEI’s Construction Verification Program (CVP) under Ont. Reg. 22/04.
• Complete required documentation for projects, regulatory requirements and safety issues.Provide detailed reporting for all accidents and incidents within scope of responsibility.
• Liaise with customers, contractors and internal stakeholders regarding concerns, safety issues and scheduling related to upcoming projects.
• Provide leadership for Occupational Health & Safety initiatives and promote a positive culture within the department for the Occupational Health Management System (OHMS).
• Direct staff to ensure that the collective agreement is administered in a fair and reasonable manner to create a positive culture for union/management relations.
• Motivate, develop and provide performance feedback to direct reports.
• Develop and complete reports and presentations for departmental, safety and other safety related meetings.
• Present material at meetings.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

• Demonstrated ability to make decisions, plan and organize projects and assume accountability for performance
• Strong leadership abilities to manage and inspire teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment
• Strong attention to detail and understanding of process flows relating to proper documentation (e.g. timesheets, material movement, work ticket completion, As-Built Drawings).
• Proficiency with computers, internet and applicable software (such as Microsoft Office suite).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with teams, customers, stakeholders, and present complex technical information clearly.
• Advanced knowledge of the corporation’s standard operating procedures, Ontario Utility Work Protection Code, IHSA Electrical Utility Safety Rules and industry safe work practices, ESA Distribution Safety Regulations (Ont. Reg. 22/04), environmental regulations and related codes, standards and regulations.
• Advanced knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements as it relates to individuals, the organization and operational requirements.
• Advanced knowledge of overhead and underground distribution systems and equipment.
• Knowledge and understanding of different management techniques, philosophies, problem-solving techniques.
• Knowledge and understanding of the application and administration of the Collective Agreement and Employment Standards Act.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

• Certified Journeyperson Powerline
• Requires eight (8) years of experience as a Journeyperson Powerline Technician within an electrical utility or similar organization.
• Requires a class DZ licence

SALARY RANGE: $111,672 - $139,590
