Deafdots is seeking a DeafDots News Writer to create and manage news content that impacts the Deaf community in Canada. The role involves researching stories, interviewing sources, and posting videos and articles online. This freelance position offers flexibility and requires strong communication and storytelling skills to engage and inform the Deaf audience effectively.
DeafDots provides “Alerts & News” signed video reports and announcements in American Sign Language (ASL). Launched in September 2020, DeafDots is the first Deaf media news service targeting Deaf Canadians.
The DeafDots News Writer is responsible for:
The News Writer must be able to write and assemble news stories in an announcer format suitable for signed and captioned presentations, including scripts with visuals and media. Each month, two scripts with four stories each are due.
