Job summary

Workland is seeking a registered nurse to join the Inpatient Rehab/Integrated Stroke Unit in North Bay. You will provide direct patient care in acute and rehabilitation settings, administer medications, and collaborate with the health team to support stroke/TIA patients.

Candidates must hold a Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, BLS, and complete Stroke Nursing Certification within 60 days. Fluency in English/French preferred.

Qualifications

  • Current Certificate of Registration ~ College of Nurses of Ontario required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers certificate required (recent within 12 months).
  • Demonstrated medical clinical experience in acute care/rehab setting.
  • Stroke patient care experience considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in an acute/rehab setting.
  • Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
  • Collaborate with health team to support stroke/TIA patients.

Department: Inpatient Rehab/Integrated Stroke Unit


QUALIFICATIONS


Certification/Experience/Knowledge:


  • Current Certificate of Registration ~ College of Nurses of Ontario required

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) Certificate required (recent within the last twelve months)

  • Demonstrated medical clinical experience in an acute care and rehabilitation setting required

  • Experience in providing care to TIA/Stroke patients an asset

  • Medication administration required

  • Experience with enteral feeding, tracheostomy care; CADD Pump and wound care an asset

  • Stroke Nursing Certification required or successful completion within 60 days of hire required



Skills/Abilities:


  • Excellent level of interpersonal skills required

  • Excellent level of written and verbal communication skills required

  • Ability to effectively provide health teaching to individuals and groups required

  • Ability to work as a collaborative member of the health team required

  • Ability to assume responsibility for patient care in a total patient care climate required

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision required

  • Ability to meet the physical demands required to provide nursing care to acute/rehab patients required

  • Basic computer knowledge is an asset

  • Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors

  • Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization

  • Good attendance and work record required

  • Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level.
