Job description

Position Summary

As a New Product Development (NPD) Technician, you will be responsible to design, build and rigorously test innovative products that address both current demands and future needs of the organization. Your expertise and creativity will be instrumental in driving our mission to deliver cutting-edge solutions and maintain our competitive edge in the industry.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  1. Construct prototype parts, assemblies, and installations based on drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions.
  2. Support and provide feedback to engineering on drawings, designs, and theories of operation, and navigate BOM and engineering drawing systems.
  3. Work with hand and power tools, fabrication equipment, and test equipment, with some lifting and climbing required.
  4. Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts or buses.
  5. Transfer knowledge from the NPD shop to various departments.
  6. Participate in project meetings and provide updates on testing progress and outcomes when required.
  7. Welding small parts and certification in welding would be an asset.
  8. Maintain shop and equipment to ensure a safe, organized and efficient working environment.
  9. Become cross-trained on all areas within the work area to ensure flexibility and ability to perform a broad range of disciplines.
Requirements:
  1. 3-5 years of experience in a technical or mechanical role within a shop floor environment.
  2. A strong mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting skills.
  3. Experience working with various mechanical and electrical tools, and test equipment.
  4. Welding experience is an asset but not required.
  5. Ability to interpret engineer drawings, schematics, and bills of materials (BOM).
  6. Working knowledge of warehouse and inventory systems, and scientific test methods.
  7. Demonstrated ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced work environment.
  8. Motivated self-starter with a high level of initiative and ability to work independently.
  9. Ability to work and contribute to a team-oriented environment.
  10. Class 2 driver's license would be an asset.
