Position Summary
New graduates… An Occupational Therapy career with Interior Health is full of opportunities to grow and advance!

New graduate Occupational Therapists (OTs) are employed in diverse practice environments and have the opportunity to work across the health care continuum, including hospital-based medical surgical, and mental health units; rehabilitation and outpatient services; long-term care homes; and home and community programs. All new graduate OTs will be provided the opportunity to identify their preferences for a position during the recruitment process. Whatever your interest, we have something for you!

Allied Health Transition to Practice Mentorship Program
Our Allied Health Transition to Practice Mentorship Program is designed to support and guide new graduates as they embark on their careers with Interior Health. This program provides you with a unique opportunity to build knowledge, confidence, and competence as you transition into your new career.

As a new graduate OT, our Regional Transition to Practice Mentor will provide you with added support for:
  1. Orientation and onboarding
  2. Fostering and strengthening relationships
  3. Clinical practice and mentorship to build practice readiness and consolidate skills
  4. Developing a customized learning plan to transition to practice
  5. Virtual open office space and introductions to other new graduates
  6. Protected and/or supernumerary time for mentor/mentee connections, job shadows, self-directed learning, and/or classroom learning
  7. Navigating tools and resources

Qualifications
Graduation from a Canadian program from an approved School of Occupational Therapy.

Current registration with the College of Health and Care Professions of British Columbia (CHCPBC). Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists or British Columbia Society of Occupational Therapists.

Valid Driver's License.

Have less than 18 months' worth of employment experience.

Have not participated in a new graduate or transition to practice program with another B.C. Health Authority.
