Cenovus’s New Grad Program aims to attract, develop and retain exceptional new grads to build a top talent pipeline for the company . The program provides new grads with a broad understanding of Cenovus’s core business through challenging work assignments, training and development, field exposure and the opportunity to develop a large network of contacts through networking and mentorship opportunities.

Our Program consists of three consecutive 12-month rotational assignments that span Cenovus’s varied business areas. Upon completion of the three-year program, you will be matched to a permanent role within the organization. This role will be based on business need and relocation may be required .

As an Engineer-in-Training at Cenovus, possible rotations could include:

  • Data Science and Advanced Analytics

  • Development Engineering

  • Field Facility Engineering

  • Drilling, Completions & Well Servicing

  • Integrity Engineering/Technical Services

  • Maintenance & Reliability

  • Operations Process

  • Process and Technical Safety

  • Process Controls

Your first rotation—and your final placement upon completion of the New Grad Program—will be at one of our Oil Sands operations: Foster Creek, Christina Lake, or Sunrise. Additional rotations may take place in Calgary, AB , or at one of our Oil Sands operations (Foster Creek, Christina Lake, Sunrise).

Our Oil Sands sites offer full-service camp accommodations. Depending on your residence and shift schedule, bus and/or air transportation may be provided from designated departure points in select locations.

Who you are

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Available to begin work June 202 6

  • Must have an undergraduate or graduate Mechanical, Materials, Chemical/Process, Electrical, or Petroleum Engineering related degree obtained by May 31, 2026, and completed within the last 2 years (2024, 2025 or before May 31 , 2026).

  • Must be eligible to register for your Professional Engineer-in-Training designation.

  • The Program aims to develop employees at the beginning of their careers, and as such, you must have less than 2 years of professional experience related to your discipline of study (not including co-op or student positions).

Safety Sensitive Considerations:

Some of the EIT rotations are deemed safety-sensitive positions. Those positions will require you to hold a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Cenovus policies and guidelines. If selected to work in one of these locations, a driver’s abstract will be requested prior to the commencement of that position. As well , if your rotation location/role is deemed safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.
