The Saskatchewan Health Authority is seeking a full-time adult neurologist with fellowship training in epilepsy. This position involves working in a state-of-the-art seizure investigation unit and contributing to teaching future neurologists. Candidates will join a dedicated team and benefit from supportive resources in a progressive healthcare setting.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) – Saskatoon and the University of Saskatchewan, Department of Medicine, Division of Neurology is inviting applications for a full-time adult neurologist with fellowship training and expertise in epilepsy.
The successful candidate will join a committed group of 23 neurologists who share on-call and consultation duties on an equitable basis. Their research interests include stroke, movement disorders, epilepsy, neuromuscular diseases, and dementia. The Royal University Hospital has a dedicated neurosciences ward, rapid CT scanners, 2 onsite MRI, electrophysiology, and telehealth on site.
We have recently opened a state-of-the-art seizure investigation unit with 4 fully monitored beds, which is fully operational. The successful candidate will participate in the staffing rotation of this unit. The unit is additionally staffed with highly skilled and dedicated EEG technologists who share call duties and have experience in intraoperative monitoring, stimulation, and surgical cases. We have recently acquired funding for a state-of-the-art surgical robot to optimize rapid and accurate electrode placement, and are welcoming back one of our locally trained neurosurgery residents to enhance the surgical epilepsy program. The epilepsy program is staffed with a dedicated coordinator, a nurse practitioner, and a neuropsychologist, in addition to 3 neurophysiologists. There are weekly epilepsy rounds that are well attended by staff and residents.
The Neurology training program has been fully subscribed for decades and all neurologists are involved in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Residents from other specialties rotate through the neurology service.
Compensation details - Fee for Service or contract as negotiated
