What Would You Do?

The Network Services Technician 2 is responsible for the design, installation, security, configuration, and maintenance of our network infrastructure. You will be responsible for both day-to-day responsibilities and full implementation projects. Additionally, you will be an escalation point and provide ongoing support to Level 1 Technicians.

The key duties and responsibilities of this position would include:

Network Hardware and Administration

  • In-scope equipment includes, but is not limited to the following:
    • Switches
    • Routers
    • Firewalls
    • Wireless access points and wireless bridges
    • Power distribution and UPS units
  • Develop and recommend appropriate network hardware solutions as necessary for each request. This may require direct contact with vendors and analysts.
  • Assemble, install, and configure network hardware as per standards and industry norms
  • Diagnose issues and work with the vendor support team for replacements. In cases where no maintenance is available the team member may have to replace individual hardware components.
  • Configure or troubleshoot VLANs, DNS, DHCP, routing
  • Configure or troubleshoot firewall rules
  • Install network cabling as required
  • Monitor LAN and WAN connections for uptime and performance
  • Create and maintain documentation
  • Implement and maintain network security as per industry standards

End Point Networking Support for Windows, Linux, Mac OS, Mobile

  • In-scope equipment includes, but is not limited to the following:
    • Workstations and associated peripherals
    • Laptops and associated peripherals (Windows, Mac OS)
    • Tablets (Windows, Android, and iOS)
    • Mobile phones (iOS, Android)
    • Printers (laser, MFP, label)
    • RF barcode scanners
    • VOIP Phones
    • Computer Controlled Manufacturing Equipment and IOT devices
  • Work with hardware support vendors for problem resolution and escalation
  • Create workarounds to problems and initiate recovery procedures

What Do You Bring?

  • English language fluency in written and verbal communication with a high level of comprehension
  • 3+ years experience with network hardware including: switches, routers, access points, firewalls in a corporate environment spanning multiple sites and countries
  • 3+ years experience with client hardware including: workstations, laptops, mobile devices, RF barcode scanners, VOIP phones
  • Experience in network operations and implementation and good understanding of LAN, WAN and firewall management methodologies
  • Cisco CCNA/CCNE or equivalent certifications and/or training
  • Ability to lift up to 9kg/20lbs
  • Driver's License

This position requires being present in the office Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM—4:30 PM, 40 hours per week. We have two locations in Winnipeg within two blocks of each other, and the ability to work at both locations will be required.
