Enterprise Network Support Consultant (12-Month Contract with possibility for extension)

General Description

Our client is seeking an Enterprise Network Support Consultant to deliver expert-level technical services across enterprise-wide data, voice, and video networks. The successful candidate will support the stability, scalability, and security of a mission-critical network infrastructure. This role is essential to both the day-to-day operation and long-term evolution of network services, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and compliance with privacy and security regulations.

The successful candidate will engage in network design, implementation, incident response, performance optimization, vendor collaboration, and change management activities. Additionally, they will support architectural initiatives and provide mentorship within a cross-functional team environment.

Responsibilities

The Enterprise Network Support Professional will provide a wide range of advanced services and contribute to the client’s infrastructure support and project delivery needs, including but not limited to:

  • Design and deploy scalable and secure network infrastructure leveraging Cisco technologies (Unified Communications, Catalyst, Nexus, SD-WAN)
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize routing, switching, wireless (Wi-Fi 6), and next-gen security systems
  • Configure and manage advanced dynamic routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP)
  • Implement and maintain secure remote access (VPN), zero-trust principles, and next-generation firewall solutions
  • Collaborate with IM/IT stakeholders and vendors on infrastructure upgrades and solution delivery
  • Utilize automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Cisco DNA Center) to streamline and modernize network operations
  • Contribute to documentation of network architecture, configurations, and change history
  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 escalation support for incident resolution and participate in an on-call rotation
  • Lead or support the execution of complex network changes during off-peak hours to minimize impact on clinical services
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to onboarding and knowledge-sharing practices
  • Represent significant changes and enhancements at the Architecture Review Board (ARB) and support alignment with broader enterprise strategy

Deliverables

The successful candidate will be expected to produce and contribute to the following deliverables:

  • Network diagrams, technical documentation, and configuration standards
  • Change management submissions and review artifacts
  • Performance and incident response reports
  • Knowledge Base articles and operational runbooks
  • Vendor communications and implementation coordination documents
  • Weekly or ad hoc network performance/status updates
  • Contribution to architectural design discussions and implementation plans

Knowledge & Experience

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess the following qualifications:

  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive experience in network design, implementation, and support within large-scale enterprise or healthcare environments
  • Valid Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification in Enterprise Networking is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with Cisco Unified Communications, Catalyst switches, Nexus platforms, and SD-WAN technologies
  • Proficiency in configuring OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, VPNs, firewalls, and network segmentation technologies
  • Familiarity with healthcare privacy and security standards (e.g., PIPEDA, HIPAA) is highly preferred
  • Strong background in automation tools (Ansible, Cisco DNA Center) and network monitoring platforms
  • Experience with ITIL-based change and incident management processes
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and third-party vendors
  • Bachelor's Degree in Network Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline is required
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to mentor junior staff, contribute to team development, and support a learning-focused environment
