We are seeking an experienced Network Specialist to join our highly technical Network Services team.

Reporting to the Network Supervisor, the Network Specialist ensures the stability, security, and performance of public safety and critical 911 voice networks. Responsibilities include second-level network support, troubleshooting advanced issues, proactive maintenance, and documentation. You will also participate in the implementation, support, tuning, and management of enterprise-wide, life-critical networks and services, maintaining E-Comm's high standards of reliability.

Key skills include experience with VPN, Cloud networks, routing protocols, Cisco ISE, Cisco switches/routers, and Palo Alto firewalls. This role offers a unique opportunity to support life-critical network services for public safety.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Network Performance Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Monitor and address network performance issues proactively.
  • Configuration & Maintenance: Analyze, configure, and resolve network issues, working with senior staff on equipment changes.
  • Incident & Problem Management: Provide second-level support, perform root cause analysis, and maintain records.
  • Technology & Best Practice Awareness: Stay current with evolving technologies, security threats, and best practices.
  • Documentation & Communication: Maintain technical documents and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

What you will bring :

  • Degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification is required.
  • CCNP certification is a plus.
  • ITIL Foundation v3 or later preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of network technologies, including switches, routers, firewalls, VPN, encryption, routing protocols, high availability, and virtualization.
  • Cloud networking experience is an asset.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.

Security Requirements :

Police Security Clearance is required, which involves a process by law enforcement. Residency in Canada for at least 5 years is necessary. Candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Candidates on student, visitor, or work visas are ineligible.
