JOB DESCRIPTION

Irving Shipbuilding, one of North America's most modern shipyards, is known for its pace and innovative spirit. The company is constructing over 20 Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ships and River-Class Destroyers as part of Canada's largest and most complex shipbuilding project. As a vital member of the IT team, you will influence the design and enhancement of digital experiences, ensuring network operations are efficient and secure by supporting and maintaining network services and solutions throughout their lifecycle.

This position requires full-time on-site presence.

All applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Investigate and resolve complex networking issues within Irving Shipbuilding infrastructure.
  • Act as an escalation point, managing vendor and external technical resources for troubleshooting.
  • Provide expertise on networking for various internal and customer-facing technology projects, supporting organizational standards.
  • Optimize existing systems for performance and capacity, identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Research, understand, and implement security protocols.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for networking solutions.
  • Lead daily networking activities and contribute to long-term operational planning.
  • Participate in on-call support rotations.
  • Manage tools and technologies such as Cisco Prime, Cisco ISE, Junos Space, OpManager, A10, and Netscaler load balancers.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree, college diploma, or related discipline.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and make quick decisions with limited information.
  • Strong teamwork, knowledge sharing, and collaboration skills.
  • Effective customer service and communication skills.

Bonus qualifications include:

  • CCNA, CCNP certifications.
  • Juniper, Meraki, and Check Point certifications.
  • ITIL Foundations certification.
  • Experience with Leading Change and process improvement (e.g., Lean yellow/green belt).
