Job description

Marqeta is looking for a talented Network Software Engineer. You will own and deliver projects in service of quarterly goals on the team and independently identify solutions to solve ambiguous, open-ended problems. You will work in collaboration with your team and cross-functional partners.

We work Flexible First. This role can be performed remotely within the provinces of Ontario and British Columbia, Canada. We’d love for you to join us!

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain network software for our products
  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
  • Work on Ethernet, IP, TCP/IP, and UDP/IP protocols to ensure efficient data transmission
  • Implement and optimize network communication at OSI model layers 1-4
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of network software into our infrastructure
  • Collaborate with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) such as Equinix, and Card Network such as Visa / Master / Pulse to maintain and optimize connectivity, troubleshoot network issues and ensure SLAs.
  • Manage and troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 Datacenter (DC) network infrastructure
  • Manage and troubleshoot complex enterprise routing with MPLS, BGP, OSPF and QoS
  • Build software and tools to improve the reliability and availability of high-speed network infrastructure
  • Improve data center network availability and efficiency through software development
  • Develop network monitoring infrastructure, and optimize the data collection, processing and visualization pipeline
  • Develop network troubleshooting and mitigation tools to reduce incident response time and improve availability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve networking issues and provide technical support to resolve system problems
Who You Are
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong familiarity with networking software and device drivers
  • Proficiency in networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, VPNs, and routing and switching technologies.
  • Deep understanding of OSI model layers 1-4 and network stack
  • Proficiency in one or several mainstream programming languages including C/C++, Go and Python
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Compensation and Benefits

Marqeta is a Flex First company which allows you to choose your best working environment, whether that be from home or at a company office. To support Flex First, we calibrate pay to a competitive value according to working location.

When determining salaries, we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire annual base salary range for this position, reflected in CAD, is: 91,500 - 114,400.
