Job description

Network Security and Support Administrator

The Network Security and Support Administrator/Specialist is required to support & maintain the hospital’s network security infrastructure.

  • Specific activities include, but are not limited to:
  • Work closely with customers (physicians, nurses, pharmacists, facilities, admin staff, etc.) and fellow tech team members to provide support for new initiatives and maintaining systems to enhance patient care, increase operational efficiency, and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Support of network security environments includes management of network security system resources, risk management, security compliance, vulnerability scanning, patching upgrades, multivendor firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers, network design and architecture problem analysis, network troubleshooting, and network maintenance.
  • Facilitate appropriate cabling (fiber and/or copper) to connected devices.
  • Participate in privacy and security incident investigation.
  • Provide on-call support outside of office hours on a rotational basis.
  • Coordinate and participate in requests for change, evaluation, installation, testing, and training to ensure network performance and the implementation of new and existing security applications/solutions to address emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Troubleshoot wired/wireless connectivity and provide timely resolution.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and current documentation related to the development, modification, and deployment of server environments/infrastructure.
  • The responsibilities above are representative and not exhaustive. The candidate will perform other duties as directed by the manager of Information Systems & Technology.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, plus relevant experience in computer systems technology or computer science; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certification in Network Administration, and formal designations such as CCNP, MCSE, VCP, CISSP, CCIE, or equivalent preferred.
  • Physically able to lift, stretch, bend, and walk to interact with equipment throughout the hospital.
  • Strong client communication skills are essential.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience supporting networks within a medium/large network infrastructure. Healthcare experience is an asset but not mandatory. Knowledge in:
  • Virtual Environments (e.g., VMWare)
  • Technical Writing
  • VPN remote access
  • Firewalls
  • VoIP Systems
  • Telecommunication
  • Linux
  • Wireless networks
  • Citrix
  • Remote Desktop Technology

Additional skills include:

  • Advanced networking and communication theory: network testers and monitoring, DHCP, IP addressing, subnetting, bandwidth, packet analyzers, ICMP tools, authentication.
  • Management of nightly backups.
  • Understanding of computer network protocols and services (LAN, WAN, routers, switches, TCP/IP).
  • Work with partner hospitals to maintain secure network connectivity.
  • iSCSI SAN administration and maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux platforms, Active Directory, LDAP, Outlook, MS Office, Adobe, Print server administration, VPN, Wireless technologies, Exchange Server, Windows File Systems, Horizon View for VDI, etc.

Additional considerations:

  • Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset.
  • All staff must follow COVID-19 vaccination guidelines as per Ontario Ministry of Health.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Pay rate to be determined based on experience and certification.
  • Option to enroll in Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan.
