You bring clear ownership and crisp execution, and you care about building networks that are simple, scalable, and highly available.

Success Criteria

  • Sustain 99.95% uptime across sites, cloud, and VPN connections
  • Reduce incident response time and improve monitoring signal-to-noise ratio within the first 6 months
  • Deliver accurate, current network diagrams, runbooks, and recovery procedures
  • Harden configurations and maintain timely patching and vulnerability remediation
  • Enable new projects and teams by executing changes safely, on time, and with clear stakeholder communication

Network Engineering & Operations

  • Design, implement, and maintain LAN, WAN, WLAN, VLAN, VPN, and firewall services across on-prem and cloud environments
  • Operate Fortinet and Juniper-based infrastructure (FortiManager, Mist)
  • Monitor performance, bandwidth, and capacity with tools such as PRTG, Zabbix, or Prometheus
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex connectivity issues across multi-site and hybrid cloud environments

Security & Compliance

  • Partner with Security to implement and maintain best practices across firewalls, IDS/IPS, and SSO/MFA
  • Conduct regular vulnerability scans and patch network and Linux systems
  • Provide evidence and documentation to support compliance initiatives (SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, HIPAA as applicable)

Cloud & Virtualization

  • Support hybrid cloud networking (AWS and Azure VPCs, VNets, routing, VPN gateways)
  • Manage and maintain virtualized environments (VMware, KVM, Proxmox) with resilience and failover in mind

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Create and maintain up-to-date documentation in Confluence, including diagrams, standards, and incident records
  • Mentor junior administrators and act as a go-to resource for networking and Linux expertise
  • Collaborate closely with DevOps, Security, and Application teams to support business needs
  • Participate in on-call rotations (shared schedule with IT team) and support incident response for critical systems

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • 5+ years in a Network Administrator or similar role in production environments
  • Strong Linux administration skills (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL, or similar)
  • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, and enterprise firewalls
  • 5+ years managing Fortinet and/or Juniper environments
  • Experience with network monitoring and logging (PRTG, Zabbix, Prometheus, or similar)
  • Experience with scripting and automation (Bash, Python, Ansible)
  • Hands-on hybrid cloud networking with AWS and/or Azure
  • Familiarity with identity & access protocols (LDAP, Kerberos, SAML, MFA)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications: CCNP, RHCSA/RHCE, CompTIA Security+, CISSP
  • Knowledge of high availability design and disaster recovery planning
  • Experience with container networking (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Previous experience in regulated industries (finance, healthcare, SaaS)

Traits

  • Calm and resourceful problem solver with strong ownership and follow-through
  • Clear, concise communicator who documents well and collaborates across teams
  • Mission-driven, curious, and motivated by continuous improvement
  • Empathetic team player who contributes to a positive, solution-focused culture
