.NET Developer – Legacy Apps & Crystal Reports

Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in Vancouver, BC seeks an experienced .NET developer to support BC Hydro Corporate applications. You will develop, troubleshoot, and maintain .NET / VB.NET and legacy VB6/Classic ASP components, and generate reports with Crystal Reports.

Collaborate with onsite/offshore teams, follow secure coding practices, and contribute to release management, documentation, and continuous improvement within SLAs.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication with business users and technical teams.
• Multiple-year IT experience in application development and production support.
• Hands-on with .NET stack and Microsoft technologies.
• Experience with legacy VB6/Classic ASP and MS Access preferred.
• Experience with Crystal Reports development and deployment.
• Strong SQL skills: queries, stored procedures, data analysis.
• Familiarity with source control and release management tools.
• Ability to work with onsite/offshore teams and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Understand business requirements, incidents, service requests and changes for BC Hydro Corporate / Vendor applications.
• Develop, maintain and enhance applications using .NET Framework/.NET, C#, VB.NET, VB6/Classic ASP and related Microsoft technologies.
• Support legacy corporate applications, including troubleshooting issues in VB6, Classic ASP, MS Access and custom-built .NET apps.
• Design, modify, troubleshoot and support Crystal Reports used for reporting.
• Analyze application, database, reporting and interface issues, identify root cause and implement fixes within SLA timelines.
• Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, views and scripts for data analysis, reporting and app support.
• Participate in incident, problem, service request, change and release management activities.
• Perform unit testing, regression testing support, deployment validation and post-implementation support.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, runbooks, release notes and knowledge articles.
• Coordinate with business users, application owners, database teams and vendor teams for resolution.
• Follow secure coding, access control and data handling guidelines.
• Support continuous improvement and modernization readiness activities.
