The Division of Neonatology, Department of Pediatrics, The University of British Columbia (UBC) in collaboration with Children's and Women's Health Centre of British Columbia (C&W), invites applications for the position of Neonatologist.

About BC Women's Hospital & Health Centre (BCWH)

BCWH is the only facility in BC primarily dedicated to women, newborns, and families, offering a broad range of specialized women's health services. It hosts the neonatal program, which is central to the provincial quaternary care system. As one of Canada's largest maternity facilities, BCWH handles about 7,200 births annually and serves as a key provider of maternity services in BC's Lower Mainland. It also leads in research through the BC Women's Research Institute and offers education and professional development in partnership with UBC.

About BC Children's Hospital (BCCH)

BCCH cares for the most acutely ill or injured children and youth in BC, providing a wide range of health services and specialized programs. It is a leading teaching and research hospital, partnering with UBC through the BC Children's Hospital Research Institute. UBC's Department of Pediatrics includes 20 subspecialty divisions and offers accredited residency and fellowship programs.

About PHSA and Related Institutes

The programs are part of the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA), which oversees specialty health services across BC, emphasizing excellence, patient-centered care, and innovation. The BC Children's Hospital Research Institute (BCCHR) and Women's Health Research Institute (WHRI) facilitate research and training in children's and women's health.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Located in the BC C&W Teck Acute Care Centre, the NICU is among the largest and busiest in Canada, with 70 single-family rooms. It serves as the quaternary referral center for BC and is renowned for leadership in health care, education, and research, especially in family-centered care, neonatal follow-up, and complex neonatal conditions. The division includes 11 Neonatologists, 19 Clinical Associate Pediatricians, 10 Neonatal Fellows, and 3 Nurse Practitioners.

Position Details

This role involves leadership in the neonatal intestinal rehabilitation program (neoCHIRP), a nationally recognized initiative focused on improving outcomes for neonates with intestinal failure. Candidates should have at least 3 years' experience in a surgical NICU, with research or quality improvement experience, especially in neonatal nutrition. Eligibility for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure in BC are required.
